Cabin Home Pottery (formerly
called Spirit Hollow)
has long been known in this valley for it's traditional dinner and daily
ware in the $10. to $50. range. Its wide repertoire includes teapots, casseroles,
canister jars, candle holders, vases, butter dishes and bowls of many sizes.
These wares are all leadfree ovenproof, dishwasher safe, microwave safe
and are glazed in the soft colors of earth, field or sky. Firing the pots
then to 2130 degrees Fahrenheit brings them to their optimum finished strength.
Dawn learned wheel throwing at a young age and developed the skill at Waldorf
College and South Bear Pottery in Iowa, and at Allende Institute in Mexico. The
strongest influence came to her through the master potters of the Bauhaus artisans
of Germany where strong form and useful function are required to work together
in every piece.
More recently Dawn has been using her skill as a painter to add custom decoration
and lettering or wilderness landscape designs to certain pieces which sell
in a higher price range..
A visit to the potter's shop can be arranged by appointment.
