It was predictable to have mountains and the wild environment define Gretchen Daiber's life. She grew up in the Northwest, the daughter of mountain climbing parents. An active climber and environmentalist, Gretchen also spent many years at sea with her husband, a commercial fisherman, geologist-mountaineer. With degrees in Printmaking and Graphic Design and later training as a sculptor she works in all mediums while concentrating on stone and bronze sculpture. Gretchen has numerous pieces in the growing outdoor collection of Sleeping Lady Mountain Retreat here in Leavenworth as well as works which are part of the permanent collections of the cities of Puyallup, Wenatchee and Seattle.
