The photographer, like the
artist and the writer, has the joy of capturing and interpreting what
is around him. The photographer has the additional advantage and burden
of immediacy-the decisive moment in which to crystallize his views.
Reed Carlson has lived in Washington State for 30 years. He grew up in
the Midwest, and attained a degree in fine arts from Concordia College
in Moorhead, Minnesota. He has traveled widely coast to coast, as well
as in Europe and Asia, photographing the people, their homes, the mountains,
the beaches, and the drylands of these places.
Reed is currently active in documenting the local historical changes.
He photographs local faces of the community and the environments in which
they are found. He is active with local non-profit organizations, documenting
their service work and their membership. He also teaches photography to
high school students.
Reed and his wife, Amy, a writer/editor and educator, live in the Icicle Valley
near Leavenworth with their rabbit Usagi.
